This simply refers to a Bushfire Management Plan that uses a BAL Contour Map as a means of assessing the risk and impact of bushfire at the site. The BAL Contour Map in this case is just one of the accepted methodologies for assessing the risk of bushfire. A BAL Contour Map showing the indicative BAL ratings for each lot is used instead of a Bushfire Hazard Level Assessment where the lot layout of the development is already known. This is because the BAL Contour Map provides more detailed information regarding the potential bushfire impacts on each individual lot. For smaller-scale subdivision developments, individual BAL Assessments for each lot created can be prepared instead of a BAL Contour Map to assess the impact of bushfire on individual lots.
